Artist Boardriders Club (ABC) makes art that navigates spatial investigations, and ideas of impermanence and transcendence in the urban and aquatic landscapes. From Where You’d Rather Be presents a line-up of images that float across the surface of the billboard. Superimposed into the landscape in an unknown location, the artwork invites the viewer to look deeper, out to an imaginary horizon, even though the experience of the artwork is a fleeting moment. Capturing a sense of transience, temporality and fluidity as echoed by the ever shifting water and sand - the elements that make up the ABC’s primary playground - From Where You’d Rather Be pieces together past installations, surf sessions, memories and follies. The work captures the ongoing dynamic of group collaboration, with multiple perspectives presented as a collective gesture.
